Who Are the Lake Erie Crushers? What League Do They Play in?

With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the Lake Erie Crushers (based in Avon, OH) are ready to play ball! The Crushers are an Independent Baseball Team for the Frontier League (partnered with the MLB). In addition, Lake Erie plays in the West Division. The Crushers have no prior affiliation with the Minor Leagues. The Lake Erie franchise is one of the couple professional baseball teams that play near Cleveland along with the Lake County Captains (High-A) and Akron RubberDucks (Double-A). The Crushers’ grape-theme came from the fact that Northern Ohio has one of the largest regions of wineries in the country.

Where do the Lake Erie Crushers Play their Home Games? Who is the Official Mascot?

The Crushers have been playing their home games at Mercy Health Stadium since 2009. Speaking of Mercy Health Stadium, the 5,000-capacity ballpark is about a 25-30 minute drive from Downtown Cleveland (home of the MLB’s Guardians, NBA’s Cavaliers, and NFL’s Browns). In fact, the stadium is also about a 1.5-hour drive from Toledo (home of Triple-A Baseball’s Toledo Mud Hens and ECHL’s Toledo Walleye). The venue was formerly known as Crushers Stadium (2020), Sprenger Stadium (2017-2019), and All Pro Freight Stadium (2009-2017). The team’s official mascot is Stomper the Gray Bear.
