The History of Royals Baseball at Kauffman Stadium
With the Major League Baseball (MLB) Season underway, the Kansas City Royals are ready to play ball! The Royals have been playing at Kauffman Stadium since the 1970’s. Speaking of Kauffman Stadium, the venue hosted the 2012 All-Star Game along with the Home Run Derby. The ballpark is adjacent to Arrowhead Stadium (home of the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs-2019 Super Bowl Champions). Kauffman Stadium is also about a 15-20 minute drive from Downtown Kansas City, Missouri. Since the Royals moved to their current home in 1973, the team won two World Series championships in 1985 and 2015. Kansas City also played in the Fall Classic in 1980 and 2014. The ballpark is notable for having a huge water fountain located beyond the outfield area.
