The History of the LLWS Children’s Baseball at Howard J. Lamade Stadium
When the Little League World Series comes every August, some of the best baseball teams in the U.S. are ready to play ball! The LLWS have been playing at Howard J. Lamade Stadium since the late 1950’s. Speaking of Howard J. Lamade Stadium, the venue can hold at least 10,000 fans in attendance. The LLWS ballpark is a 15-20 minute drive from the Historic Bowman Field, the Independent Baseball site for the Williamsport Crosscutters (former Class-A club for the Philadelphia Phillies). Howard J. Stadium is also not far from the World of Little League Museum.
Since 2011, the Little League World Series has witnessed numerous teams winning the championship. Those teams are the following: California (2011), Japan (2012), Japan (2013), South Korea (2014), Japan (2015), New York (2016), Japan (2017), Hawaii (2018), and Louisiana (2019). Unfortunately, the 2020 edition was cancelled due to the global health crisis. The LLWS venue was named after Howard J. Lamade (1950’s LLWS Board of Directors Member who funded the construction for the baseball stadium).
