The History of Minnesota Twins Spring Training in Fort Myers

With the Spring Training Grapefruit League Season underway, the Minnesota Twins are ready to play ball! The Twins have been training at Hammond Stadium at the CenturyLink Sports Complex since 1991. Speaking of Hammond Stadium, the venue is also the home of the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels (formerly Fort Myers Miracle) of the Florida State League-Single A (previously Low-A).

Hammond Stadium is a 10-15 minute drive from JetBlue Park, the Spring Training home of the Boston Red Sox. Since the Twins came to the stadium in 1991, the team won a World Series that same year and reached the American League Championship Series in 2002. Since the 2019 season, Minnesota finished in first place in the AL Central Division three times. In 2023, the Twins ended their 19-year postseason losing streak by defeating the Blue Jays in the wild card series.
