With the Minor League Hockey Season underway, the Hamilton Bulldogs are ready to drop the puck! The Bulldogs are an independent affiliate of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). In fact, the OHL is one of the three leagues in the Canadian Hockey League along with the Quebec Major Junior League and the Western Hockey League. The Bulldogs, who won the 2018 Robertson Cup, have been playing in the OHL since 2015. The team was formerly known as the Belleville Bulls (Ontario: 1981-2015) before their relocation to Hamilton. There was another Hamilton Bulldogs franchise from the AHL (2002-2015), but they relocated to Newfoundland to become the St. John’s IceCaps (now the Laval Rocket).

The Bulldogs have been playing their home games at FirstOntario Centre since 2015. Speaking of FirstOntario Centre, the 17,000-capacity arena is located in Downtown Hamilton (home of the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats). The venue is also about a 1.5-hour drive from London (home of the OHL’s London Knights). FirstOntario Centre was previously known as the Copps Coliseum from 1985 until 2014. The team’s main mascot is Bruiser the Bulldog.
