The History of FSU Seminoles Basketball at Donald L. Tucker Civic Center

With the College Basketball Season around the corner, the Florida State Seminoles are ready for tip-off! The men in garnet and gold have been playing at Donald L. Tucker Civic Center since the early 1980’s. Speaking of Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, the venue can hold nearly 12,000 fans in capacity. The Seminoles’ basketball venue is about a 2.5-hour drive from Jacksonville (home of the NFL’s Jaguars, ECHL’s Icemen, and Triple-A Baseball’s Jumbo Shrimp). Donald L. Tucker Civic Center is also located on the Florida State University campus. The school’s football stadium was named after Florida House of Representives Speaker and Tallahassee native Donald L. Tucker. The men in garnet and gold last played in the National Championship in 1972. Florida State also reached the Men’s Elite 8 in 2018. Meanwhile, the women’s basketball team has played in the Elite 8 three times since 2010 (2010, 2015, 2017).
