With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the Frederick Keys (based in Frederick, Maryland) are ready to play ball! The Keys are an Independent Baseball Team for College Baseball’s Top Prospects. In addition, they play in the MLB Draft League (no divisions). The Keys were a Class-A affiliate for the Baltimore Orioles from 1989 until 2020. The team was named after Francis Scott Key, a Frederick native who wrote the USA’s National Anthem “Star Spangled Banner.”

The Keys have been playing their home games at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium since 1990. Speaking of Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium, the 5,000-capacity ballpark is located in Downtown Frederick near the U.S. 70 Highway. The ballpark is about a 1.0-hour drive from Baltimore and a 1.5-hour drive from Washington D.C. Frederick’s baseball venue was named after Harry Grove (who was a local baseball team owner during the early 1900’s). The team’s official mascot is Keyote the Brown Dog.
