Who Are the Fort Wayne TinCaps? What League Do They Play in?

With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the Fort Wayne TinCaps (based in Fort Wayne, Indiana) are ready to play ball! The TinCaps are a High-A Team affiliate of the San Diego Padres. In addition, they play in the East Division for the High-A Central League. The TinCaps have been an affiliate for San Diego since 1999. The franchise was formerly known as the Fort Wayne Wizards from 1993 until 2008. The TinCaps were named after former Fort Wayne resident Johnny Appleseed. The American legend was a 19th century pioneer who wore tin caps on his head and introduced planting apple trees in the Midwest states, including Indiana.

The TinCaps have been playing their home games at Parkview Field since 2009. Speaking of Parkview Field, the 8,000-capacity ballpark is located in Downtown Fort Wayne. The ballpark is also about a two hour-drive from Indianapolis. The team’s official mascot is Johnny TinCap.
