The History of Flyers Hockey/76ers Basketball at Wells Fargo Center
With the NHL and NBA seasons underway, the Philadelphia Flyers/76ers are ready to play! The teams have been playing home games at Wells Fargo Center since 1996. Speaking of Wells Fargo Center, the venue can hold nearly 20,000 fans in capacity. The teams’ venue is located in the city’s sports complex (home of the MLB’s Phillies, NFL’s Eagles, and Temple Owls Football). Wells Fargo Center is also about a 5-10 minute drive from Downtown Philadelphia. The Flyers last won the Stanley Cup in 1975, while the 76ers won the NBA Championship in 1983. The Flyers recently played in the Stanley Cup Finals in 2010, while the 76ers played in the NBA Finals in 2001. Wells Fargo Center was formerly known as the Wachovia Center from 2003 until 2010.
