The History of Florida Panthers Hockey at Amerant Bank Arena
With the NHL Hockey season underway, the Florida Panthers are ready for puck-drop! The Panthers have been playing home games at Amerant Bank Arena since 1998. Speaking of Amerant Bank Arena, the venue can hold at least 19,000 hockey fans in capacity. The team’s venue is located in Sunrise (about a 20-25 minute drive from Fort Lauderdale). FLA Live Arena is also about a 40-45 minute drive from Miami (home of the MLB’s Marlins and NBA’s Heat).
The Panthers have played in the 1996 Stanley Cup Finals, but lost to the Colorado Avalanche in a four-game sweep. Florida recently played in the 2023 NHL Champion ship Series, but lost to the Vegas Golden Knights in five games. FLA Live Arena is located right next to the Sawgrass Mills shopping complex. The hockey stadium was formerly known as Bank Atlantic Center (2005-2012), BB&T Center (2012-2021), and FLA Live Arena (2021-2023).
