With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the Evansville Otters (based in Evansville, IN) are ready to play ball! The Otters are an Independent Baseball Team for the Frontier League (partnered with the MLB). In addition, Evansville plays in the West Division. The Otters have no prior affiliation with the Minor Leagues. Evansville is currently the oldest active team in the Frontier League. They are also one of the four Frontier League clubs that were founded in the 1990’s: Windy City ThunderBolts, New Jersey Jackals, and Quebec Capitales.
Where do the Evansville Otters Play their Home Games? Who is the Official Mascot?
The Otters have been playing their home games at Bosse Field since 1995. Speaking of Bosse Field, the 5,000-capacity ballpark is the third-oldest active baseball stadium in America (1915) behind Wrigley Field (1914) and Fenway Park (1912). The Otters’ ballpark is about a 2.0-hour drive from Louisville (home of Triple-A Baseball’s Louisville Bats and College Football’s Cardinals). In fact, the stadium is also about a 3.0-hour drive from St. Louis (home of the MLB’s Cardinals and NHL’s Blues). Bosse Field was named after former Evansville Mayor Benjamin Bosse from the early 1900’s. The team’s official mascot is Evan the Otter.
