With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the El Paso Chihuahuas are ready to play ball! The Chihuahuas are a Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres. In addition, they play in the East Division for the Pacific Coast League as of 2024. For 2021, El Paso played in the same division for the Triple-A West League. The Chihuahuas have been a minor league team for San Diego since 2001. The Minor League franchise relocated twice over the past decade. In 2010, the Portland Beavers moved to Tucson to become the Padres. A couple years later, the Tucson club relocated to Texas to become the Chihuahuas.

The Chihuahuas have been playing their home games at Southwest University Park since 2014. Speaking of Southwest University Park, the 7,000-capacity ballpark is located in Downtown El Paso (which is very close to the Mexico/U.S.A. border). The team’s official mascot is Chico the Chihuahua.
