The History of Edmonton Elks Football at Commonwealth Stadium
With the CFL Football Season underway, the Edmonton Elks are ready for kick-off! The Elks have been playing at The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium since the late 1970’s. Speaking of Commonwealth Stadium, the venue can hold at least 50,000 fans in attendance. The Edmonton football venue is about a 5-10 minute drive from Rogers Place (home of the NHL’s Oilers). The Elks last won a Grey Cup championship in 2015, their fourth such title since 2000. The Elks venue was named after the 1978 Commonwealth Games (similar to the Olympics; held in Edmonton).
