The History of Duke Blue Devils Football at Wallace Wade Stadium

With the College Football Season around the corner, the Duke Blue Devils are ready for kick-off! The men in Blue and White have been playing at Wallace Wade Stadium since the late-1920’s. Speaking of Wallace Wade Stadium, the venue can hold at least 40,000 fans in attendance. The Blue Devils’ football venue is about a 20-25 minute drive from Chapel Hill, NC (home of the North Carolina Tar Heels). Wallace Wade Stadium is also located on the Duke University campus. The school’s football stadium was named after former Duke Head Coach Wallace Wade (Six Conference Championships).

Since its opening, the Blue Devils football venue has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: David Cutcliffe (head coach), QB Daniel Jones, DB George McAfee, Wallace Wade (head coach), and many more! The men in Blue and White last won a Conference Championship in 1989 (shared). Recently, the Blue Devils played in the 2013 ACC Championship Game (lost to Florida State). Since 2012, Duke has played in six bowl games.
