The History of Creighton Basketball at CHI Health Center
With the College Basketball Season around the corner, the Bluejays are ready for tip-off! The men in blue have been playing at CHI Health Center since the early-2000’s. Speaking of CHI Health Center, the venue can hold at least 18,000 fans in capacity. The Bluejays basketball venue is about a 10-15 minute drive from Werner Park (home of Triple-A Baseball’s Omaha Storm Chasers). The basketball building is also located on the school’s campus very close to Charles Schwab Field (College World Series).
The arena was formerly the home tenant for the Omaha Mavericks hockey team until their relocation to Baxter Arena in 2015. Also, the venue was previously known as the CenturyLink Center from 2011 until 2018. For men’s basketball, the Bluejays last advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2021. Meanwhile, the women’s squad recently played in the Elite Eight in 2022. The men’s program took part in the March Madness eight times since 2010, while the women’s team made five such appearances during that span.
