The History of Nebraska Cornhuskers Football at Memorial Stadium
With the College Football Season around the corner, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are ready for kick-off! The men in Scarlet and Cream have been playing at Memorial Stadium since the mid-1920’s. Speaking of Memorial Stadium, the venue can hold at least 85,000 fans in attendance. The Cornhuskers’ football venue is about a 1.0-hour drive from Omaha (home of Minor League Baseball’s Storm Chasers). Memorial Stadium is also located on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus. The school’s football stadium is a memorial to the local Nebraska soldiers who fought for the U.S. in the wars that took place in the 1900’s.
Nebraska Football’s Successful Moments at Memorial Stadium
Since its opening, the Cornhuskers football venue has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: Tom Osborne (head coach), QB Eric Crouch (Heisman Winner), DE Ndamukong Suh, QB Tommie Frazier, Bo Pelini (head coach), and many more! The men in Scarlet and Cream last won the National Championship in 1997 (shared with Michigan). Recently, the Cornhuskers played in the Big Ten Championship Game in 2012. However, Nebraska has not played in a bowl game since the 2016 season.
