The History of Atlanta Braves Spring Training in North Port
With the Spring Training Grapefruit League Season underway, the Atlanta Braves are ready to play ball! The Braves have been training at the CoolToday Park since 2019. Speaking of CoolToday Park, the venue is currently the newest Spring Training stadium in the big leagues. Before the Braves’ relocation to North Port, the team trained at Champion Stadium at the ESPN World Wide of Sports Complex at Disney.
CoolToday Park is a 20-25 minute drive from Charlotte Sports Park, the Spring Training home of the Tampa Bay Rays. CoolToday Park is also about a 35-40 minute drive from Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, the Spring Training facility of the Baltimore Orioles. Since the Braves came to the stadium in 2019, the team won the 2021 World Series and appeared in the 2020 NLCS. Atlanta also saw an NL MVP winner in Freddie Freeman in 2020.
