The History of Columbus Crew Soccer at Lower.com Field
With the MLS Soccer Season underway, the Columbus Crew are ready for action! The Soccer Club has been playing at Lower.com Field since 2021. Speaking of Lower.com Field, the venue is currently the newest stadium in Columbus. The stadium is about a 5-10 minute drive from the Ohio State University (home of the Ohio State Buckeyes). Lower.com Field is also located just a couple blocks from the Arena District (home of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets and Triple-A Baseball’s Columbus Clippers).
Since the Columbus Crew became an MLS franchise in 1996, the team won two MLS Cups in 2008 and 2020. In addition, the Crew had the best record in the league three times by winning the Supporters’ Shield (2004, 2008, 2009). Before moving to Lower.com Field, the soccer club played their home games at Historic Crew Stadium (formerly known as Mapfre Stadium).
