The History of Buffaloes Football at Folsom Field
When the College Football Season around the corner, the Colorado Buffaloes are ready for kick-off! The men in black and gold have been playing at Folsom Field since the mid-1920’s. Speaking of Folsom Field, the venue can hold nearly 50,000 fans in attendance. The Buffaloes football venue is about a 30-40 minute drive from Denver (home of the MLB’s Rockies, NHL’s Avalanche, NBA’s Nuggets, and NFL’s Broncos). Folsom Field is also located on the University of Colorado campus. The school’s football stadium was named after former Buffaloes Football Coach Fred Folsom.
Since its opening, the Buffaloes football venue has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: Bill McCartney (head coach), QB Darian Hagan, RB Rashaan Salaam (Heisman Winner), WR Michael Westbrook, Mike MacIntyre (head coach), RB Eric Bieniemy (current Chiefs coach), and many more! The men in black and gold last won a National Championship in 1990, though they did play in the 2016 Pac-12 Championship Game.
