The History of Coastal Carolina Football at Brooks Stadium
With the College Football Season around the corner, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers are ready for kick-off! The men in Teal and Bronze have been playing at Brooks Stadium since the late-2000’s. Speaking of Brooks Stadium, the venue can hold at least 20,000 fans in attendance. Coastal Carolina’s football venue is about a 30-minute drive from Myrtle Beach (home of Minor League Baseball’s Pelicans). Books Stadium is also located on the Coastal Carolina University campus. The school’s football stadium was named after local food businessman Bob Brooks and his children (who donated millions of dollars to fund the venue). Brooks Stadium is known for its teal-colored football field.
Since its opening, the Chanticleers football venue has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: Jamey Chadwell (head coach), QB Grayson McCall, DE Tarron Jackson, RB Lorenzo Taliaferro, Joe Moglia (head coach), and many more! The men in Teal and Bronze last won a National Championship in 2020 (shared). Recently, the Chanticleers played in their first bowl game in the program’s history (2020 Cure Bowl). Coastal Carolina previously played in the Division I FCS from 2003 until 2017 when the squad joined the Football Bowl Subdivision.
