The History of New York Mets Spring Training in Port St. Lucie
With the Spring Training Grapefruit League Season underway, the New York Mets are ready to play ball! The Amazin’ Mets have been training at the Clover Park since 1988. Speaking of Clover Park, the venue is also the home of the St. Lucie Mets of the Florida State League-Single A (formerly Low-A). The St. Lucie Mets’ mascot is Klutch the Blue Dog. Before its current name, the Spring Training site was formerly known as First Data Field (2017-2019), Tradition Field (2012-2016), and Digital Domain Park (2010-2012). Clover Park is a 45-50 minute drive from Roger Dean Stadium, the Spring Training home of the St. Louis Cardinals and Miami Marlins. Since the Mets came to the stadium in 1988, the team played in two World Series (2000, 2015) and four NLCS appearances (1999, 2000, 2006, 2015). New York also reached the playoffs during the 2016 season.
