Full Story on Kim Mulkey Stepping Down as Baylor Women’s Basketball Head Coach

With Kim Mulkey gone, now is the time for the Baylor Bears to make a list of top candidates. In fact, the recognizable applicants could be qualified to become the team’s new head coach for the 2021-2022 Season. Mulkey decided to step down recently following a 28-3 finish to the 2020-2021 campaign (16-1 in Big-12 Conference). She will become the head coach for the LSU Tigers, replacing Nikki Fargas. Mulkey’s tenure with the Bears lasted 21 seasons and compiled a 632-104 record (291-61 in the conference).

Kim Mulkey guided the women’s program to 19 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 3 National Championships (2005, 2012, 2019) and 4 Final Four trips (2005, 2010, 2012, 2019). In fact, the Bears played in four consecutive Elite 8 appearances from 2014 to 2017. Prior to becoming the head coach for Baylor in 2000, she was the assistant coach for Louisiana Tech (1985-2000).
