The History of Dodgers & White Sox Spring Training in Glendale
With the Spring Training Cactus League Season underway, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox are ready to play ball! Both teams have been training at the Camelback Ranch since 2009. Speaking of Camelback Ranch, the venue also serves as the home for the Glendale Desert Dogs of the Arizona Fall League. The Dodgers moved to Arizona in 2009 after spending the last several decades in Vero Beach, Florida.
Camelback Ranch is about a 5-10 minute drive from State Farm Stadium and Gila River Arena, the homes of the Cardinals-NFL and Coyotes-NHL (respectively). The Glendale ballpark is also about a 25-30 minute drive from Downtown Phoenix, the home of the Diamondbacks-MLB and Suns-NBA. Since the Dodgers came to the stadium in 2009, the team won the 2020 World Series. The Men in Blue also played in three World Series appearances (2017, 2018, 2020). Meanwhile, the White Sox reached the playoffs in 2020 and 2021 since coming to Glendale from Tucson.
