The History of Boston College Football at Alumni Stadium
With the College Football Season around the corner, the Boston College Eagles are ready for kick-off! The men in Maroon and Gold have been playing at Alumni Stadium since the late-1950’s. Speaking of Alumni Stadium, the venue can hold at least 40,000 fans in attendance. The Eagles’ football venue is about a 15-20 minute drive from Boston (home of the MLB’s Red Sox, NHL’s Bruins, and NBA’s Celtics). Alumni Stadium is located on the Boston College campus. The school’s football stadium is also about a 30-35 minute drive from Foxborough (home of the NFL’s New England Patriots).
Since its opening, the Eagles football venue has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: Steve Addazio (head coach), QB Doug Flutie, LB Luke Kuechly, QB Matt Ryan, RB Andre Williams (Heisman Finalist), Tim O’Brien (head coach), and many more! The men in Maroon and Gold last won a National Championship in 1940. Recently, the Eagles won a Conference Title in 2004 (shared). Since 2010, Boston College has played in seven bowl games.
