The History of Bearcats Football at Nippert Stadium

With the College Football Season around the corner, the Cincinnati Bearcats are ready for kick-off! The men in red and black have been playing at Nippert Stadium since the mid-1920’s. Speaking of Nippert Stadium, the venue can hold at least 40,000 fans in attendance. The Bearcats football venue is about a 10-15 minute drive from Downtown Cincinnati (home of the MLB’s Reds and NFL’s Bengals). Nippert Stadium is also located on the University of Cincinnati campus. The school’s football stadium was named after Bearcats Player James Gamble Nippert. After his sudden passing, his grandfather (James Gamble-Proctor & Gamble co-creator) sent funds to build the university’s football stadium.

Since its opening, the Bearcats football venue has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: Luke Fickell (head coach), QB Desmond Ridder, TE Travis Kelce, WR Mardy Gilyard, Brian Kelly (head coach), QB Greg Cook, DT Bob Bell, and many more! The men in red and black last won a Conference Championship in 2020, their 6th such accomplishment since 2008.
