The History of Appalachian St. Football at Kidd Brewer Stadium
With the College Football Season around the corner, the Appalachian St. Mountaineers are ready for kick-off! The men in Black and Gold have been playing at Kidd Brewer Stadium since the early-1960’s. Speaking of Kidd Brewer Stadium, the venue can hold at least 30,000 fans in attendance. The Mountaineers’ football venue is about a 2.0-hour drive from Ashville (home of the Minor League Baseball’s Tourists). Kidd Brewer Stadium is also located on the University’s campus. The school’s football stadium was named after former Appalachian St. head coach Kidd Brewer.
ASU Mountaineers Football’s Success at Kidd Brewer Stadium
Since its opening, the Mountaineers football venue has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: Jerry Moore (head coach), WR Armanti Edwards, S Corey Lynch, LB Marques Murrell, Scott Satterfield (head coach), and many more! The men in Black and Gold last won a National Championship during the 2007 season (FCS Level). Recently, the Mountaineers won a conference title in 2019. Since 2015, the football program has played in six bowl games.
