The History of Milwaukee Brewers Spring Training in Phoenix

With the Spring Training Cactus League Season underway, the Milwaukee Brewers are ready to play ball! The Brew Crew have been training at the American Family Field Phoenix since 1998. Speaking of American Family Fields Phoenix, the venue was formerly known as Maryvale Baseball Park from 1998 until 2019. A couple seasons ago, the Brewers Spring Training stadium underwent renovations that included the new main entrance behind home plate.

American Family Fields Phoenix is a 20-25 minute drive from Sloan Park, the Spring Training home of the Chicago Cubs. The Brewers’ facility is also about a 25-30 minute drive from Scottsdale Stadium, the Spring Training home of the San Francisco Giants. Since the Brewers came to the stadium in 1998, the team played in two NLCS appearances (2011 and 2018) in addition to seven playoff appearances. Milwaukee also won four NL Center Division titles during that span.
