The History of Brooklyn Nets Basketball at Barclays Center
With the NBA Basketball season underway, the Brooklyn Nets are ready for tip-off! The Nets have been playing at the Barclays Center since 2012. Speaking of Barclays Center, the venue can hold nearly 18,000 fans in capacity. The team’s venue is very close to New York City (home of the NBA’s Knicks, NHL’s Rangers, and MLB’s Yankees/Mets). The Nets recently reached the East Semifinals in 2021, but lost to the eventual NBA Champion Milwaukee Bucks.
Barclays Center is also the home of the WNBA’s New York Liberty and formerly the home of the NHL’s New York Islanders (2015-2020). Since the Nets relocated from New Jersey in 2012, the team made the playoffs six times. Meanwhile, the Liberty (who moved to Brooklyn in 2020) reached the WNBA Finals four times in their franchise history: 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002.
