The History of Texas Tech Football at Jones AT&T Stadium
With the College Football Season around the corner, the Texas Tech Red Raiders are ready for kick-off! The men in Scarlet and Black have been playing at Jones AT&T Stadium since the late-1940’s. Speaking of Jones AT&T Stadium, the venue can hold at least 60,000 fans in attendance. The Red Raiders’ football venue is about a 4.5-hour drive from Forth Worth (home of the TCU Horned Frogs). Jones AT&T Stadium is also located on the Texas Tech University campus. The school’s football stadium was named after former university president Clifford B. Jones and his wife Audrey Jones.
Since its opening, the Red Raiders football venue has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: Kliff Kingsbury (head coach), QB Patrick Mahomes, WR Michael Crabtree, OT Le’Raven Clark, Mike Leach (head coach), and many more! The men in Scarlett and Black last won a Conference Championship during the 1994 season (shared). Since 2010, the Red Raiders have played in six bowl games.
