With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the Hickory Crawdads (based in Hickory, North Carolina) are ready to play ball! The Crawdads are a High-A Team affiliate of the Texas Rangers. In addition, they play in the South Division for the High-A East League. The Crawdads have been a farm club for the Rangers since 2009.
The Minor League Team is known for its massive food challenge called The Clawlossal Challenge. The battle consists the following: BBQ Sandwich, Cheeseburger, Chili Cheese Footlong Hot Dog, Two Pickle Spears, Two Jalapeño Poppers, Five Onion Rings, and a Corn Dog. A competitor has to finish the challenge by the time the inning ends (or by 6 outs).

The Crawdads have been playing their home games at L.P. Frans Stadium since its inception in 1993. Speaking of L.P. Frans Stadium, the 5,000-capacity ballpark is located outside Downtown Hickory near the Devil Shoals River. The venue was named after local soda plant employee Lee Polk Frans (whose children contributed to the funding of the Hickory ballpark). L.P. Frans Stadium is about a 1.0-hour drive from Charlotte (home of the NBA’s Hornets, NFL’s Panthers, AHL’s Checkers, and MiLB’s Knights). The team’s official mascot is Conrad the Crawdad/Crawfish.
