The History of Sacramento River Cats Baseball at Sutter Health Park

With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the Sacramento River Cats are ready to play ball! Sacramento is a Triple-A team for the San Francisco Giants. In addition, they play in the West Division for the Pacific Coast League starting in 2022. For 2021, Sacramento played in the same division for the Triple-A West League. The River Cats have been a farm club for the Giants since 2015. The Triple-A team also partnered with the Oakland Athletics (2000-2014) before shifting services with San Francisco.

The River Cats have been playing their home games at Sutter Health Park since 2000. Speaking of Sutter Health Park, the 10,000-capacity ballpark is located in West Sacramento, California. The ballpark was formerly known as Raley Park (2000-2019). The team’s official mascot is Dinger the River Cat. The River Cats venue saw three no-hitters in its history: 2006 by Portland Beavers combined no-no, 2009 by Sean O’Sullivan (Salt Lake Bees), and 2021 by Sacramento combined no-no. Sutter Health Park also hosted the 2005 Triple-A All-Star Game.
