The History of Philadelphia Phillies Baseball at Citizens Bank Park

With the Major League Baseball (MLB) Season underway, the Philadelphia Phillies are ready to play ball! The Phillies have been playing at the Citizens Bank Park since 2004. Speaking of Citizens Bank Park, the venue hosted the 2012 NHL Winter Classic (Flyers vs. NY Rangers). Also, the stadium will host the 2026 MLB All-Star Game to honor the 250th Anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. Citizens Bank Park is located in Philadelphia’s Sports Complex (home of the 2017 NFL Champion Eagles, the NHL’s Flyers, and the NBA’s 76ers). The complex is not really far from the Philadelphia International Airport.

Since the Phillies moved to their current home in 2004, the team won a World Series Championship in 2008. Philadelphia has also played in the 2009 Fall Classic (lost to Yankees in six games) along with three straight National League Championship Series appearances (2008-2010). Citizens Bank Park saw two no-hitters in its history: 2010 NLDS by Phillies RHP Roy Halladay and 2014 by Dodgers RHP Josh Beckett. Recently, OF Bryce Harper won the 2021 NL MVP Award (1st such winner for Phillies since Jimmy Rollins in 2007).
