The History of Baltimore Orioles Baseball at Camden Yards

With the Major League Baseball (MLB) Season underway, the Baltimore Orioles are ready to play ball! The Orioles have been playing at Orioles Park at Camden Yards since 1992. Speaking of Camden Yards, the venue hosted the 1993 MLB All-Star Game. The ballpark is a couple blocks away from M&T Bank Stadium (home of the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens). Camden Yards is also about a 1.0-hour drive from Washington D.C. (home of the MLB’s Nationals, NHL’s Capitals, and NBA’s Wizards). The Orioles stadium is also the site where Angels OF Mike Trout hit his first career home run in 2011.

Since the Orioles moved to their current home in 1992, the team reached the playoffs five times: 1996, 1997, 2012, 2014, and 2016. Baltimore also played in three American League Championship Series appearances since the ballpark opened: 1996, 1997, and 2014. Camden yards only saw one no-hitter in its history: 2001 by Red Sox RHP Hideo Nomo. Former Skipper Buck Showalter won the AL Manager of the Year in 2014, while OF Trey Mancini won the AL Comeback Player of the Year in 2021. Camden Yards is notable for the B&O Warehouse beyond right field (which the team incorporated into the stadium to prevent possible demolition).
