The History of Nashville Sounds Baseball at First Horizon Park
With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the Nashville Sounds are ready to play ball in the Music City! The Sounds are a Triple-A Team affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. In fact, they play in the Southeast Division for the International League starting in 2022. For 2021, Nashville played in the same division for the Triple-A East League. In fact, 2022 will be the Sounds’ 2nd year of affiliation with the Brewers after spending the last several seasons with the Texas Rangers (2019-2020) and Oakland Athletics (2015-2018).
The Sounds have been playing their home games at First Horizon Park since 2015 after spending its first 36 years at the now-demolished Herschel Greer Stadium. Speaking of First Horizon Park, the 10,000-capacity ballpark incorporates the spirit of the Music City by installing a guitar-shaped video board in right field and serving Nashville Hot Chicken in concessions.
The venue was formerly known as First Tennessee Park from 2015 until 2019. Their mascot is Booster, a red rooster (resembling a Nashville Hot Chicken with Red Cayenne Pepper) who wears a jersey with a number zero on the back. First Horizon Park has never seen a no-hitter in its 7-year history. Nashville last hosted the Triple-A All-Star Game in 1994 at the former Hershel Greer Stadium.
