The History of Seattle Mariners Baseball at T-Mobile Park

With the Major League Baseball (MLB) Season underway, the Seattle Mariners are ready to play ball! The Mariners have been playing at T-Mobile Park since 1999. Speaking of T-Mobile Park (formerly known as Safeco Field), the venue hosted the 2001 All-Star Game along with the Home Run Derby. The ballpark is located next to Lumen Field (home of the NFL’s Seahawks and MLS’ Sounders FC). T-Mobile Park is also about a 10-15 minute drive from Climate Pledge Arena (home of the NHL’s Seattle Kraken). Seattle will host the MLB All-Star Game in 2023, becoming the first AL city to host the event since Cleveland in 2019.

Since the Mariners moved to their current home in 1999, the team played in two American League Championship Series appearances: 2000 and 2001. Seattle is the only MLB team that has never played in the World Series. T-Mobile Park has also witnessed the most no-hitters in the MLB since 2010. Recent no-hitters are the following: 2015 by Hisashi Iwakuma (Mariners), 2021 by John Means (Orioles), and 2021 by Spencer Turnbull (Tigers). In 2020, Seattle OF Kyle Lewis won the AL Rookie of the Year Award. T-Mobile Park also has a Mariners Hall of Fame Museum located between the 1st Base Concourse and Right Field.
