2022 Texas Rangers Manager Search: List of Candidates

Full Story on Chris Woodward Being Fired as Texas Rangers Manager

With Chris Woodward gone, now is the time for the Texas Rangers to make a list of top candidates. In fact, the recognizable applicants could be qualified to become the team’s new manager for the 2022 Season. Texas decided to dismiss Woodward as skipper after nearly four seasons under the helm. The Rangers are on the verge of missing the playoffs for the sixth straight season. Texas has been one of the most disappointing teams for 2022 despite the major free agent signing of SS Corey Seager (10 years-$325 million), 2B Marcus Semien (7 years-$175 million), and Starting RHP Jon Gray (4 years-$56 million).

Chris Woodward’s Career with the Rangers

As mentioned before, Woodward was unable to guide the Rangers to any playoff appearances. In fact, Texas has not been to the postseason since 2016 (lost to Blue Jays in Division Series). To make matters worse, the Rangers have not won a playoff series since the 2011 Championship Series. That being said, Chris Woodward was the last Texas manager at Globe Life Park and the first team skipper at the retractable roof Globe Life Field. Before coming to Arlington in 2019, he was the 3rd Base Coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2016 until 2018. During that tenure, Woodward was part of the Dodgers club that reached consecutive World Series appearances in 2017 and 2018.
